Just imagine you’re a multi-billionaire who loves skiing. What would your ski holiday look like? You’d probably want your own private hotel - and when I say private, you’d want it all to yourself. Obviously, you’d have your own personal chef. And a butler, of course. The hotel would also be on top of the mountain, so that you’d have your very own mountain to ski on. Sounds like a pipe dream, doesn’t it?
But, how’s this? You can get all of that for under $1,500 a night in the private suite above Eagle’s Eye Restaurant at Kicking Horse resort in British Columbia, Canada, perched atop the Purcell Mountains’ Dogtooth Range at 2,350 metres (that’s higher than Australia’s tallest peak).
Billionaires will have to park their Bentley at the base though, because your transport is an 18-minute gondola ride up to Eagle’s Eye Restaurant. The restaurant (Canada’s most elevated dining experience) serves up such fancy fare as Elk Carpaccio, Bison Tenderloin and Sablefish for lunch and dinner, but when the dinner guests take the last gondolas down you then become the king of the castle. It’s just you (and your butler).
The suite is more rustic-cabin than billionaire-bling, but after your high altitude slumber you do wake up to a priceless view from your four-poster bed straight out through a window to some of the most majestic mountain views on earth. Breakfast (prepared by your own private chef) is served in your room, but you can skip the coffee. If you ski directly down, you’ll pass through a series of long blue and black runs (but mostly blacks) which will sure to wake you up.
When you get to the base, it’s back to skiing with the other resort guests, but sometimes even billionaires must mix with the riffraff.
